Hold Option + Shift and move the mouse to place the panel — the symptoms clear, the field fades to half strength, and a yellow border marks the panel. While holding: click-drag to resize (left grows, right shrinks), press + / − to zoom the panel's view, and tap the arrow keys to pan where it looks. Option + Shift + A toggles the panel itself. Release the keys to finish.
